Heaven and Hell is the common English title of a book written by Emanuel Swedenborg in Latin , published in It gives a detailed description of the afterlife ; how people live after the death of the physical body. The book owes its popular appeal to that subject matter. An article about Swedenborg includes a list of biographies about him, with a brief analysis of each biographer's point of view. Some of the things he claims to have experienced are that there are Jews , Muslims and people of pre-Christian times " pagans " such as Romans and Greeks in Heaven. He says he spoke to married angel couples from the Golden Age who had been happy in heaven for thousands of years. The work proved to be influential.
One of the most unusual books in classical Arabic literature, The Epistle of Forgiveness is the lengthy reply by the prolific Syrian poet and prose writer Abu l-? With biting irony, The Epistle of Forgiveness mocks Ibn al-Qarih's hypocrisy and sycophancy by imagining he has died and arrived with some difficulty in Heaven, where he meets famous poets and philologists from the past. He also glimpses Hell, and converses with the Devil and various heretics. Either way, his later writings demonstrate a high degree of English literacy.
Home Hello hi Sitemap. Visions of Heaven and Hell. When the wicked have traveled a course of sin, and discover they have reason to fear the God;s judgement and wrath for their sins, they begin to wish there is no God to punish them, then by degrees they persuade themselves there is no God, and then they set themselves to study the arguments to support their opinion. This excellent book by John Bunyan covers the subject matter of the existence of heaven and hell as well as studies and dispells the arguments presented by sinners who argue there is no heaven and hell. Bunyan rose from an humble beginning to being a preacher to a little house church, to 12 years in jail because he would not agree to quit preaching, to a huge church in London.

Christian Fantasy pp Cite as. This chapter may seem anomalous, for Swedenborg is not a writer of Christian fantasy in our sense of a fiction involving supernatural beings. For thirteen years before he wrote down his Heaven and Hell , Swedenborg soberly tells us, he was in direct communication with angels, who were pleased to give him a full account of every aspect of the heavenly and hellish realms, to the end of producing a religious revival amid the decaying Christian faith and churches of the mid eighteenth century no. In meticulous detail he therefore tells us of angelic natures, lives and occupations, of the shaping of heaven in the human form, of the network of spiritual correspondences underlying all things.
With so many Christian websites promoting this book, we felt it was time to primarily for those who have already read the book and believe that it was written by John Bunyan, the great author of Pilgrim's Progress. We do not suggest that one should read the book. This book is very dangerous and one should not subject his mind to unscriptural things. We will prove beyond a shadow of doubt that John Bunyan did NOT even write the "Visions of Heaven and Hell" book and thus the credibility of the author who did, in fact, write this book is in question. The book is a fake-- plain and simple.
