In real life, data is messy and doesn t always fit into normal statistical distributions. This is especially true in service industries where the variables are, well, variable and directly related to and measured by the constantly changing needs of customers. As the breadth and depth of tools available has increased across the integrated Lean Six Sigma landscape, their integrated application has become more complex. Filled with case studies using real-world data, Lean Six Sigma in Service: Applications and Case Studies demonstrates how to integrate a suite of tools to make sense of an unstructured problem and focus on what is critical to customers. The case studies illustrate the application of Lean Six Sigma tools to a wide variety of processes and problems including, but not limited to financial process improvement, designing a recruiting process, managing a college s assets, and improving educational processes.

Organizations around the world use quality to improve their processes and results. These case studies demonstrate how companies apply quality tools outside of the United States. Naval Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center, used a series of kaizen events to shorten service lead time by 68 percent. November By creating a paperless process, the team handled a percent increase in work and eliminated at least 70, paper copies per year.

View at publisher. This paper presents an extensive review on the services, six-sigma, and application of six-sigma in services. In order to improve service quality focus on service process is necessary. Six-sigma is a philosophy which also concentrates on the improvement of process. So, six-sigma if properly applied can be useful for services.

Lina Al-Qatawneh, Abdallah A. Abdallah, Salam S. Six Sigma is used heavily in various industrial sectors, yet no noticeable applications are seen in healthcare logistics. This paper reveals the special case of healthcare logistics where cost reduction is not the only factor considered in project selection; performance and criticality of each item in the logistics system are of high importance as well. This paper provides a proposed framework to apply Six Sigma in the area of healthcare logistics. It also presents a case study implementing the proposed framework at a Jordanian hospital. In the case study, the paper reveals how the modifications of the define phase to take into consideration the criticality, cost, and performance of items make typical Six Sigma methodology very beneficial for healthcare logistics.

This book provides a detailed description of how to apply Lean Six Sigma in the health care industry, with a special emphasis on process improvement and operations management in hospitals. The book begins with a description of the Enterprise Performance Excellence EPE improvement methodology developed by the author that links several methodologies including systems thinking, theory of constraints, Lean and Six Sigma to provide an enterprise-wide prioritization and value-chain view of health care. The EPE methodology helps to improve flow at the macro or value-chain level, and then identifies Lean Six Sigma detailed improvements that can further improve processes within the value-chain. The book also provides real-world health care applications of the EPE and Lean Six Sigma methodologies that showed significant results on throughput, capacity, operational and financial performance. She also designs and deploys the business process improvement program, facilitates cross-functional process improvement initiatives, and also develops a framework for prioritizing process improvement initiatives.

Our improvement journey explored how to improve the efficiency and value offered through an internally mandated audit program. In our DMAIC approach we utilized standard work combinations, time studies, process flows, and more in order to reduce cycle times, drive knowledge transfer, increase visibility, and mitigate risk. We reduced the audit preparation cycle by approximately one-third and reduced field postage costs by 55 percent. Download Presentation PDF, 3. This project focused on reducing the cycle time for repair, maintenance, and overhaul activities. The stone had been hard, and he had been thrown none too gently upon it. The girl was crying and clearly very frightened. Sam signed all the necessary papers, and Nora signed where she was told. They heard a car horn beep, and knew Carla was waiting for them. Without you I should be nothing.

Show all documents The sigma scale of measure is perfectly correlated to such characteristics as defects-per-unit, parts-per-million defectives, and the probability of a failure. Six is the number of sigma measured in a process, when the variation around the target is such that only 3. Six Sigma is a quality improvement programmed with a goal to reduce the number of defects to as low as 3. It relies on the use of normal distribution to predict defective rates.
